Mills, a native of Pine Ridge, outsprinted Tunisia s Mohammed Gammoudi and Australia s Ron Clarke in the final homestretch of the 1964 Olympic 10,000-meter race to claim gold. 'Last hurdle' for Gold Coast AFL club Mar 30, 2009
Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke said the resolution was subject to further negotiations with the state government but had his "fingers crossed" that the licence would be announced this week. "We (council) have just asked for a couple of conditions (including community access for other events), it's still subject to negotiations but I think we are over the last hurdle," Clarke told AAP..
