The Columbia Central High team posted a roaring upset of a team nicknamed the Tigers (believed to be Lewisburg) and then Daily Herald sports reporter Lindsey Nelson, a Central High senior, described that the players played like Lions in defeating the Tigers in a 1934 game. Nelson, of course, late became an internationally reknown sportscaster, who is in his early years at the University of Tennessee originated the Tennessee football radio network.
