The Florida Tennis Center announced this week that it will be hosting for the first time the USTA Junior Team Tennis Summer Section Championships in August. The three-day tournament -- in effect, a state championship, with a berth in the national tournament at stake -- should be a nice boon to area hotels and restaurants. (Daytona Beach News Journal)

Area to host USTA juniors tournament Jun 1, 2009
Well, maybe that all will start changing later this week when the USTA Florida Junior Closed Singles Sectional tournament is held at the Florida Tennis Center ... The 10- and 12-year old division leaders will play at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs and the elite 14-, 16- and 18-year old players at the Florida Tennis Center ... The players should really enjoy the refurbished 24 clay courts and the brighter lighting system at the Florida Tennis Center. (Daytona Beach News Journal -- Sports)
