Before joining the Phoenix organization, Schmieder held the top spot at Metro Denver Sports Commission, where he helped build its annual budget from $200,000 at inception in 2002 to more than $1 million when he left. Schmieder took the reins in Phoenix from Mark Tudi, owner of Phoenix-based Sports Careers LLC and SportsSearch, who had been serving as the commission s interim director.
